A few more HDR examples

Today I tried a few more variations in HDR photography. I think in the end the pictures have a little touch of art and sometimes they represent the situation even better than the original shot. Heaven and clouds are getting perfect in HDR pictures as you can see in the following examples.

HDR Shelter

HDR of single RAW

By the way, all pictures were taken in Wildhaus, which is a small town near Buchs (SG). They were created – as always – from one single RAW file.

I love the clouds in the shot above. The pictures are even more impressive if you watch them in original size because they contain so much detail and your eyes first have to browse the whole picture to get the full impression.

Monkey in HDR

Taking pictures of animals is sometimes quite difficult because the camera has problems to find the right exposure time. Especially if the animal has a dark fur the exposure time will be too long and the picture is highly overexposed.

To get rid of this, it helps to take the pictures in the RAW format so that corrections afterwards are easy. Further more you could apply some techniques to improve the final result.
If there are very dark and very bright areas in the picture the DRI or HDR technique helps. The following picture is a HDR result from a RAW file of an underexposed, a normal and a overexposed picture. As you can see, the combination of the pictures gives much more details and an overall correct exposure.

This is another example of an HDR image produced from a RAW file. You can see in the next picture how the three originals looked like.
